Memory Lane Portraits by Rhonda Lester is partnering with Just a Cloud Away, Inc.™ Journal, 50% of pet portrait session fees will be donated to the publication. The journal provides our community a platform to share stories of hope, healing, loss and memorials of a loved one, pregnancy or pet.

Memory Lane Portraits by Rhonda Lester creates beautiful artistic portraits of pets and their families. They welcome well-loved animals of all types and ages and love capturing the unique personality of each.

Rhonda is partnering with Just a Cloud Away, Inc. ™ Journal by donating 50% of all pet session fees booked through mentioning this ad. Rhonda has over 25 years experience in photography, and compassion for capturing the love between owner and companion.

Rhonda’s first pet session was for a dog with terminal cancer, named Chester. His owner, Sheila, wanted something special to remember her beautiful and beloved Chester, as he had been part of the family for so many years. When they arrived at the studio, Sheila wasn’t sure Chester would cooperate, as he usually disliked being photographed. Knowing this, and how important the portraits were, Rhonda was a little nervous about how the session was going to progress. She was used to being patient and playful with reluctant children to capture the best pictures, and decided to apply those same skills. Staying calm, Rhonda not only got Chester’s cooperation, but a variety of heart warming images. The result was a priceless portrait of a very much-loved companion, Chester……

“End of Life Photography” was provided for the pet owners of Monty, adopted 15 years ago from a shelter. He is a very special part of the family, being the first of 7 dogs to enter the household.

It is said, 78% of owners consider pets a full-fledged part of the family and rightly so.

Alzheimer’s Disease is on the rise with someone being diagnosed every 70 seconds. Families are choosing to keep loved ones at home, hiring in home care agencies to help or

choosing a reputable facility specializing in Alzheimer Care.

One of the top Alzheimer Care facilities in the Buffalo, NY area is Harris Hill Nursing Facility, not because of one of my family members resides here, but the various activities, parties and projects offered.

For Alzheimer patients who are aware of their surroundings and have the desire to feel needed, activities are crucial on a daily basis.

Activities range from tactile (papercrafting, repetitive projects), audio (singing, listening to story-telling or music), physical (gardening or house keeping). Depending on the patients level of function, there is an activity for them, even if for only a few minutes per day.

When I visit Harris Hill, one particular woman with Alzheimer’s Disease is always carrying her baby doll in her arms being so attentive with such love in her eyes.

The parties and events are long processes with staff moving very slow. It is not the destination it is the journey. High strung people like myself have to slow down and enjoy the talk, dance and smiles of the residents who think they have known you all of their lives.

Find out what kind of activities are offered when you are selecting your loved ones new home. The disease may bring out new personality traits and hidden talents, which are just a moment away of being revealed to you.

Alzheimer’s Disease facilities in the Piedmont Triad Area can schedule gardening activities with Diana Digs Dirt

of papercrafting projects with Just a Cloud Away, Inc. ™Journal

We are looking for a monthly papercrafting location in the Greensboro, NC for a workshop to meet on the 3rd Friday of the month from 5-11PM. This would be added exposure for your facility where workshops will be photographed and posted on Just a Cloud Away, Inc. ™ Journal’s Blog. The workshops will reach out to community members wanting to learn how to compose keepsakes of loved ones, pets or baby’s gone too soon in the form of journal books, scrapbooks, collages, cards and more.

An energy reading and a very detailed interpretation of the reading were presented to me by Janet Nestor, holistic healer and author of Pathways to Wholeness.

Janet is a supporter of Just a Cloud Away, Inc. Journal offering articles not typically accepted by mainstream society. If you are willing to open your mind to the possibilities, please do consider speaking with her regarding your losses.

Because my son died at birth, any memorabilia, pictures, descriptions are very much welcomed. A few photographs were taken of him at birth, clipping of hair, ashes, foot and hand prints and it just isn’t enough for a mother. Below is an energy reading where Janet connected with my little angel on August 3rd, 2010.

Tanner, son of Diana Gardner-Williams

Tanner has a whole lot to say. His senses are all operational from the spirit realm. His is connected to spirit, his listening ears are wide open for communication. He has a lot to say about a lot of things.

The blue orb at the third eye…inner eye. He is like a magnet. He intuits everything and is able to process through the center better than any others. His vision is full spectrum vision. He sees everything on all at once….many levels of seeing and understanding and had the ability to communicate what he sees and understands.

Colors:

Peach-he is social. Likes to be part of the mix. Also patient and kind and you can feel his love and compassion without hardly trying. He is shadowy in structure, but when he communicates you can hear and communicate with him.

Light pink/lavender-He is vibrant. He has a lot to say/intuit/process. He likes where he lives and is exactly where he is supposed to be. This is his world. He is comfortable within his world. He knows his way around.

The light blue in his energy field-it is his level of permanence. He is ever-present in your life, will remain ever-present in your family life as long as this family exists. He is part of the family and enjoys his interactions. He has a sense of humor. He can pop in and out and does.

His spiritual body seems to be a thought form. He is light and airy. He has great wisdom, which he will share if you listen to what he has to say. It is not infant wisdom, but wisdom of spirit that is collective in nature. He really does not seem to be identified with his human body at all. He is identified with his spiritual being and that life.

Notice his eyes and the fact that they appear alert. They are alert. The line through his eyes is a boundary of sorts. Reflects his deep insights. He will not interfere in what is not his to see and hear. He stays back unless invited. He is not hesitant. But he is respectful of privacy and of his role. As a child one might have called him timid, but not silent. Shy, but not withdrawn. Funny, but not a clown and center of attention.

The only thing he misses is the ability to cuddle. He would have loved touch and still likes touch although it is not the same. He will snuggle in close to you if he can…almost feel like a part of you. You might notice when he is around because he likes to be so close. He would loved to be noticed in those moments, but he does not seek to be noticed.

He is both child energy and very wise energy all rolled up into one spiritual being. His identity in this life is one of infant child. His spirit identity is ages old. A lovely mix of innocence and aged wisdom.

I cannot thank you enough Janet. These words are precious to me and gives my being another purpose and understanding of my child. This is tangible and will be cherished upon my alter for him.

Just a Cloud Away Inc. ™ Journal will be presenting a brief talk on the various ways art is incorporated into the healing process, for Caregivers and those with Alzheimer’s Disease. Art is an alternative way to communicate.

Remember & Honor Loved Ones with Alzheimer’s,

“The Way They Were & the Way They Are Now”

 Thursday November 18th

12-1:30pm

Emerald Event Center 2000 East Wendover Avenue

Create a Cake Catering providing lunch for $13.00

 November is Alzheimer Awareness Month

 Topics to be discussed:

  • Creating a tribute, honoring the life of a loved one with Alzheimer’s-video montages, poetry

  • Benefits of incorporating art therapy in the lives of Alzheimer’s patients. Parts of their brain that deal with colors and composition can still be used and developed and even people with advanced Alzheimer’s disease can continue to create art. A study showed that patients receive pleasure and satisfaction after creating artwork.

Below is a self portrait of an American artist William Utermohlen, 1967

Diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 1995.

Below is his last self portrait in 2000.

A Papercrafting Workshop will be held at the same location December 3rd, Friday evening from 5-11pm to share and create keepsakes for/of our loved ones. More information here. Please RSVP to Diana@justacloudaway.com

Funeral and Memorial Flowers are so beautiful and add something special to the service. The various fragrance and colors provide and uplifting element honoring a loved one passed.

These arrangements can be preserved and displayed in a custom frame, ornament, or table top mount for friends and family members.

Gina’s Freeze Dried Flowers, LLC  has the equipment, expertise and passion for providing  flower keepsakes for those grieving the loss of a loved one. The custom floral preservation enables  family and friends to take home a precious memorial flower.

The sooner Gina receives the flowers (1-4 days after the service), the higher the success rate ensuring original color preservation. Leaves, berries and grasses within the bouquets can also be freeze dried. Gina will pick up the flowers if located in the Jamestown/High Point  area or individuals can drop off to Gina’s Workshop.

This type of memorial keepsake may be a thoughtful sympathy gift for bereaved parents of miscarried or stillborn babies. Pregnancy and infant loss leave parents with a very small number of tangible objects reminiscent of their babies.

Gina can customize your  flower arrangements with the appropriate background color and frames selected by the family. She can also add; obituaries, poems, prayer books, bible versus, pictures or any other keepsake memento within the flower bouquet.

Single flower ornaments are options  if several family members or friends would like a keepsake memento created from the funeral flowers.

Almost any flower can be freeze dried expect for coneflowers, daisies, and black-eyed susans.

The freeze dried flowers will last 75 years if the are not dropped, and not kept in rooms with high humidity and direct sunlight.

If you have a memory garden with several flowers you would like preserved, follow the instructions below.

  • Prune the flowers at an angle
  • Prune a rose within the middle stage, just after the bud has begun to open
  • Prune in early morning or late evening
  • Place in refrigerator, not a freezer (if your lettuce is frozen, the temperature is too low)
  • Do  not place the flowers by the blower

Wait 1 more day before pruning the rose below.

Because flowers from a memory garden are not in a professional bouquet, Gina will artfully arrange the blooms.

It is not uncommon for Gina to provide a keepsake for a bereaved family of pet loss.

The cost of Gina’s Freeze Dried Flowers start at $30.00 for an ornament and the process of drying is slow and often takes 2 to 3 months.

Thank you for offering the Piedmont Triad with this artistic method of preserving beautiful memorial bouquets.

Peace Love and Hugs

Give the Gift of “Love Memorials™” to Grieving Families.

“Love Memorials™” are very personalized sympathy gifts given to comfort a person or family grieving the loss of a loved one. This gift comes straight from the heart without the possibility of duplication. A “Love Memorial™” can be sent immediately after the death, on death anniversaries, angelversaries, birthdays, the season, approximate pregnancy due dates or holidays. There is no timeline for a gift honoring a life.

At least three people are involved in the creation of a “Love Memorial™”; the person grieving, the deceased person or pet and you. There are no rules to compose a “Love Memorial™”, only the depth of thought for its conception. When you take the time to understand the relationship of the bereaved individual and loved one passed, a precious and unique keepsake can be composed.

“Love Memorials™” can be a simple handmade card, remembrance ribbons , poems , journal entries, or scrapbook pages. Other forms of “Love Memorials™” are virtual memorials, memory gardens and drawings.

A handmade card is a wonderful and considerate way to send a heartfelt “Love Memorial™”. The card located above was created for a couple who lost their daughter Abby at 22 weeks gestation due to miscarriage. The photograph of a golden sunrise, the yellow butterfly and lemony cloud the angel is resting on, symbolizes the gemstone citrine. Abby’s approximate due date was December second. Providing this kind of information is helpful when creating a card reflecting the color of her gemstone.

If you have a talent for writing, compose a “Love Memorial™” in the form of a letter or poem. This type of gift would be highly treasured because of the amount of thought required for its creation. My girlfriend created a “Love Memorial™” for us after the stillbirth of our son Tanner. The poem is called, If he could tell you…” and was read at our Memory Garden Dedication for Tanner. My girlfriend was also a new mother of a 3 month old when she composed this comforting poem that touched my heart. Her words also reflected a very real pain for her too.

If you are creative and have either an organic or symmetrical style, try designing a “Love Memorial™” in the form of scrapbook pages . This “Love Memorial™” created from your perspective could comfort bereaved families while providing a memorial keepsake reflecting hope. My sister-in-law created a beautiful “Love Memorial™” for us honoring little Tanner. One could even create scrapbook pages from the perspective of child in heaven, reassuring the bereaved that they are doing just fine and love them deeply.

Virtual memorials are another way to express your support for bereaved families. By working through the logistics and set up of an online memorial, unnecessary stress for grieving family members are alleviated. These “Love Memorials™” allow you to write short stories, poems or anything else about the deceased or those grieving the loss. Memorials can be personalized by background colors, music, and significant photos, making this online tribute unique.

Remembrance Videos are another option to create a unique memorial. Families usually have the video playing during the wake and funeral meals. This beautiful tribute will be treasured by hurting families.

Typical sympathy gifts usually involve you and the individual grieving the loss, such as a sympathy card. Sending such gifts would be fine if it is distressing or uncomfortable to send a “Love Memorial™”. After some time passes, ideas and thoughts may be discovered helping to compose a “Love Memorial™” for your bereaved friend or family member. These types of sympathy gifts will be truly cherished because you haven taken time to think about their special relationship and the undying love within their hearts.

Peace Love and Hugs
