The first “Quilt of Remembrance” for Just a Cloud Away, Inc. ™ Journal has been created. We thank all those who have contributed and supported the publication by remembering or honoring a loved one. The paper addresses human interest stories regarding love, loss, healing, hope, grief and memorials.

Many people upon the quilt are from places other than North Carolinians and will be mailed to family and friends wanting copies.

Angelversaries can also be acknowledged for bereaved parents of pregnancy loss. Miscarriages, stillbirths and babies who have passed of SIDS are very much-loved and remembered.

As a kind gesture, businesses can remember an employees loved one or a beloved pet.

The purchase of a quilt square can also be given as a sympathy gift.

The Quilt of Remembrance will be printed within each monthly issue. Please support your paper by remembering a special person who has touched your life.

Please contact us regarding potential stories, click here.

I had the pleasure of meeting Anna and William Heroy of Old Photo Specialists while delivering Just a Cloud Away, Inc.™ Journals in Downtown Greensboro, North Carolina. The shop is absolutely beautiful and nostalgic with photos, each with a story gracing their walls.

As a surprise, William offered to create a forever photograph of our stillborn son. My husband and I often replace Tanner’s photograph in his memory garden due to fading from the sun.

Many people are unaware of the product William offers in his studio. The photographs are reproduced on archival material resistant to fading and water. The photos can even be displayed without inserting into a glass frame. They would make a wonderful sympathy gift.

One of the 12 photographs we have of our little angel is so precious, I choose this one for William to work with. He did not re-touch Tanner’s picture, but now we will always have this picture and never have to reproduce it again.

William also printed a short poem found in Tanner’s scrapbook pages.

Pictures like this are priceless, thank you William.

The April issue of the Journal of Clinical Nursing has reported on a Swedish study where a 25 minute massage was offered for eight weeks to relatives who had lost a loved one to cancer. Participants ranged from 34 to 78 years of age and included widows, widowers, daughters and sisters. They were offered a choice of foot or hand massage and divided fairly evenly over what they chose. Only three of the participants had previous experience of soft tissue massage.

They reported that having a soothing massage helped provide much-needed consolation during an intense, stressful period of grieving. “Soft tissue massage is gentle, but firm” explains Dr Cronfalk, who carried out the research with colleagues from the Karolinska Institutet. “This activates touch receptors which then release oxytocin, a hormone known for its positive effects on well-being and relaxation. In this study the hand or foot massage was done with slow strokes, light pressure and circling movements using oil lightly scented with citrus or hawthorn.

The use of hawthorn and lemon as the oils is interesting as they would not naturally spring to mind first. Lemon oil is probably best known for its antiseptic and antimicrobial properties but it reputedly increases concentration and awareness and helps to eliminate emotional confusion, which would fit with the grieving process.

Positive Touch Triad had their ribbon cut by Angela Howard, health coach of the Piedmont Triad. Angela has lost over 210 pounds with Take Shape for Life! Her motto, “There is no 1 solution to weight loss.”

It was chilly but over 40 supporters attended.

Snacks and B-Skinney Coffee were offered for those at the ceremony.

Doctor Akihito Gido practices Chiropractic and Acupuncture Services right next door to Positive Touch Triad.

Just a Cloud Away, Inc™Journal highly recommends the products and services provided at Positive Touch Triad and wishes the best of luck in the new year. Take care of yourself first, especially those going through life transitions.

Just a Cloud Away, Inc.™ Journal is the first publication dealing with human interest stories.

What is a human interest story-Human interest journalism involves stories that people can relate to. Unlike in straight journalism, where it is hoped that journalists will remain objective, human interest stories may be more flexibly written. Sometimes details of a human interest story are so intense, that the journalist hardly needs to insert any editorial information.

Much of the local news is focused on presenting us with facts and statistics, which may admittedly get a little boring unless you have a keen interest in the subject. A human interest story is a feature story that discusses a person or people in an interactive and/or emotional way. It presents people and their problems, concerns, or achievements in a way that brings about interest or sympathy in the reader or viewer.

Just a Cloud Away Inc.™ Journal serves our community by acting as the voice (may be anonymous) to educate on the various problems, issues, healing journey or miracles experienced during or after a loss. We are the human interest publication to report your news.

Reality TV is so focused on the stupidity of actions, drama of the irrelevant or lives of the celebrities. Where are the programs to help us through the difficult times, the moments that change our lives forever, or our new paths without loved ones?

Talk shows may report or mention current issues and Doctor Phil may address one problem per show, but is this enough to make a difference, in our lives?

Read local stories of our community and how you can reach out and help. Monthly publications are free and throughout Greensboro and surrounding towns. We address all loss, loved ones, pregnancy or infants and even beloved pets.

Advertisers and those wanting to purchase a remembrance/tribute/ or sympathy gift ad are greatly appreciated and make this publication possible.

Warmly,

Just a Cloud Away, Inc.™ Journal

The art of papercrafting incorporates a few supplies with mementoes of loved ones. At the first Love Memorial™ Workshop sponsored by Just a Cloud Away, Inc. ™ Journal, the community brought pictures of their loved ones, infants, and pets that have passed on.  The participants expressed their gratitude to have the opportunity to remember and create keepsakes with their own hands. Various vendors provided snacks, drinks, and music; and Rich Brenner helped out at the microphone.

Local businesses will surprise us each month with goodies, music or other. Angela Howard of Take Shape for Life-Fast Weight Loss and Long Term Health, has lost 210 pounds and serves up a fantastic glass of lemonade.

Pressed flowers will also be available.

Please email Diana@justacloudaway.com if you are interested in attending a casual papercrafting workshop on a monthly basis.  Our next workshop will be on Friday, December 3rd, at the Emerald Event Center (2000 East Wendover Avenue) from 5-11 PM.   Just a Cloud Away, Inc.™ Journal will sponsor the workshop by supplying scrapbook papers, stickers, cutters, stamps, adhesives, and more. The workshop is open to avid scrapbookers who would like a comfortable, quiet, and convenient atmosphere to craft cards, collages, scrapbooks, holiday gifts, and whatever else brought to the table!
